In consideration for the well-being and safety of others and for your own enjoyment and safety, the South Kingstown Public Library Board of Trustees has adopted the following Rules of Conduct for Library Users. Library staff will enforce these rules.

* Respect the Library staff, the building, and all Library materials.

*Do not damage, deface, destroy, rearrange, or remove Library property or exhibits.

*Respect other Library users by not interfering with their ability to use the Library.

*In accordance with the Library System's Youth Library Use Policy, children, especially those age 8 or younger, may not be left unattended in the Library.

*Smoking and vaping are prohibited in the Library.

*Food is restricted to special events. Beverages must be in covered containers.

*Appropriate attire must be worn in the Library. Appropriate attire includes: shoes, shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses, shorts and pants. Swimsuits are not appropriate attire.

*Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and weapons are prohibited on Library premises.

*Animals are not allowed in the building, except for service animals registered to help the disabled.

*Talking on cellular/mobile phones must be done outside the building.

*Electronic equipment must be used in such a way so as not to distract or annoy Library patrons.

*Sexual harassment is not tolerated.

*Profanity is not permitted on Library property.

*Sleeping is not allowed in the building.

*Sexual activities are not allowed on Library property.

*Solicitation is not permitted in the Library.

Anyone failing to comply with the Rules of Conduct for Library Users will be asked to leave the Library. Members of the Library staff are empowered to enforce the rules and will call the police for assistance.
