In accordance with R.I. Law #29-4:5-8 and the Code of the Town of South Kingstown, Chapter 8, the South Kingstown Public Library is governed by the Library Board of Trustees.
The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Town Council for terms of three years with appointments being staggered. The Trustees serve without remuneration. The regular monthly meeting of the Board is held on the second Tuesday of the month except in August.
All meetings begin at 7:30 PM and are held at the central library in Peace Dale, except as noted below.* Meetings are open to the public with the agenda posted at Town Hall.

The schedule of regular meetings for the South Kingstown Public Library Board of Trustees for 2007 is as follows:
January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 8, June 12, July 10, September 11, October 9, November 13, December 11.
*All meetings will be held at 7:30 PM at the South Kingstown Public Library @ Peace Dale, 1057 Kingstown Rd., Peace Dale, RI 02879 with the exception of the April 10th and May 8th meetings.
The April 10th meeting will be held at the Kingston Free Branch, 2605 Kingstown Rd., Kingston, RI 02881 at 7:30 PM, and the May 8 meeting will be held at the Robert Beverly Hale Branch, 2601 Commodore Perry Highway, Wakefield, RI , 02879 at 8 PM.
