On October 21, 2021, the South Kingstown Town Council authorized an award of bid to New England Building and Bridge (NEBB) to construct Phase 2 of the Matunuck Beach Road seawall protection project. NEBB began driving steel sheetpiles in late February and is expected to be complete with sheetpile driving operations by the end of March. Installation of seaward armor stone will follow, which is expected to be completed by Memorial Day, at which time NEBB will demobilize for the summer months. Upon return to the site after Labor Day, NEBB will be casting the concrete wall cap, similar to the Phase 1 seawall concrete cap, followed by water utility work and finally repaving the road for the limits of the projects.
