South Kingstown’s Annual Tree Lighting on the Village Green in Peace Dale will take place Friday, Dember 1st, starting at 5:30 pm.
This longstanding community tradition will feature performances by The Prout School Chorus and the Peace Dale School Chorus; followed by a Sing-along of holiday favorites led by members of the Wakefield Concert Band.
There will be cookies and hot chocolate to keep everyone warm, as we wait for that special guest, (who wears a red coat!), to join Town leaders and the 300th Anniversary Committee for the countdown to the illumination of a beautiful new holiday tree generously donated by Mark Hutchins Landscaping. Twenty “mini” evergreens, purchased and decorated by organizations and members of our community, will also be lit up to make the Village Green twinkle with holiday spirit.
This year’s program is generously sponsored by The Prout School and the Village at Worden’s Pond.
The Access to Art Pottery Studio operated by the Parks and Recreation Department, and located at the Peace Dale office building, next to the Village Green, will be holding an open house during the tree lighting. The public is welcome to stop in and view the wonderful pieces created by talented students.
Parking is available at the Neighborhood Guild, 325 Columbia Street, Peace Dale (there is parking in front and in back of the building; and along Kingstown Road. For more information, please contact the Neighborhood Guild at 789-9301.
