The South Kingstown School Building Committee (SBC) is looking for 2 community volunteers to assist in the selection of a Construction Manager for the proposed construction of a high school and athletic facility. The application can be completed online at https://forms.gle/AbP9pcNFoWAkF9Xb6
BACKGROUND
The Town of South Kingstown will be hosting a bond referendum on May 7, 2024 to authorize up to $150 Million to fund the construction of a new high school and athletic field. In order to ensure the project remains eligible for bonus incentive reimbursements provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) the SBC is expediting the procurement of an architectural and engineering team as well as selection of a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR)
The SBC has authorized the formation of a 5 member CMAR selection team which will be comprised of 2 members of the SBC, 2 members of the general public, and 1 member from the Town Council. The role of the CMAR selection team will be to review responses to a Town issued Request for Qualifications, rank candidates base on proposals, shortlist top candidates, and interview top CMAR teams. Members will be required to score CMAR firms utilizing a standard rubric authorized by the SBC. A recommendation from the CMAR team for the selection of a CMAR will then be forwared to the SBC for authorization to proceed to the Town Council for award.
