RHRTS Bag & Tag Program

South Kingstown operates a "Bag and Tag" waste disposal system at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station (RHRTS). You supply the bag and purchase an adhesive “tag” that goes around the neck of the bag prior to disposal. Because all recycling is free and required the more you recycle, the more money you save on tags.  Tags are reserved for residents of South Kingstown and Narragansett.  Proof of residency is required. Recycling is mandatory in South Kingstown.  Please do not put plastic bags in with your recycling.

  • Refuse tags are sold in lots of 5 from June 1st to April 30th of each year
  • Tag sales of less than 5 can be made in the months of May and June of each year
  • Bag volume is limited to 33 gallons and bag weight is limited to 35 pounds
  • Refuse bags exceeding volume or weight require an additional tag
  • Tags may be purchased at the RHRTS or Town Hall
  • Tags expire on June 30th of each year
